19th Century Mahogany Cutlery Box, C1890

A beautiful 19th century mahogany cutlery box with a double-lid design, the original green baize lining and a brass carrying handle. It would have been used to transport precious silver cutlery and pieces like this were an important part of a well-appointed Victorian household. There are some scratches and teeny chips and one side is a little loose but the green baize has survived beautifully and adds to its character. It is a lovely piece to store cutlery in the kitchen or a wonderful way to present cutlery at a dinner party. Dimensions 28cm wide x 39.5cm length x 12cm tall with handle and kids closed.
