Pair of late Victorian oak hall chairs, ideal for a hallway or used as occasional dining seating. They have tall shaped backs with simple moulded tops, solid oak seats and turned front legs characteristic of late 19th-century provincial furniture. The chairs retain much of their original finish and show honest wear from use. Dimensions Width: 44 cm Depth: 44 cm Height: 101 cm Seat Height: 47 cm Condition Both chairs have marks and surface scratches consistent with age. Staff report previous repairs and there is some movement to the backs; this is visible at the join of the back to the seat. There is slight splintering to one seat where an oversized screw was apparently driven in from underneath and later removed. Finish is worn in places, particularly on the seats and leg feet; the chairs are structurally sound but will benefit from careful re-tightening of joints if destined for everyday use.
