The Bianca Coat is one of those pieces you’ll reach for again and again - perfect for that in-between kind of weather. Light enough to throw on, but warm enough to properly wrap yourself up in. In this online workshop, I’ll guide you through making your own Bianca Coat or Jacket using a simple, comfortable shape that’s designed to be quick to sew and a joy to wear. The coat is overlocked together for speed, with the overlocker giving a beautifully decorative finish to the edges so no fiddly facings or linings required. And yes… it has big, generous pockets to keep your hands warm. Always a win. What you’ll learn This workshop focuses on confident, efficient construction using your overlocker, while still creating a garment that looks considered and well-finished. You’ll learn how to: Work confidently with boiled wool and other suitable fabrics Assemble the Bianca Coat using an overlocker-led construction method Use the overlocker to create a decorative, intentional edge finish Handle bulk and thickness cleanly and neatly Construct and attach large practical pockets The techniques you’ll learn here are transferable to other relaxed outerwear projects too. Is this workshop right for me? This workshop is best suited to you if: You’re comfortable using an overlocker (or have some prior experience) You’d like a quick but satisfying make that doesn’t compromise on comfort You enjoy simple shapes that rely on good fabric choice and clean construction You want a coat that feels relaxed, wearable, and quietly stylish If you’re new to overlocking, I’d recommend starting with Love Your Overlocker first, which will give you a really solid foundation before tackling this project. Fabric & materials You will need: Approx. 2.5–3m of 140cm wide fabric for the long coat version (Less fabric is needed for a shorter jacket) An overlocker with suitable thread Basic sewing tools (pins or clips, scissors, tape measure) Fabric suggestions: Boiled wool (ideal) Bouclé Heavyweight jersey If you’re unsure about fabric choice or quantities, you’re very welcome to get in touch — I’m always happy to advise. How the workshop works Lifetime access - learn at your own pace Watch, pause, rewind, and revisit whenever you need Clear, calm demonstrations with step-by-step guidance Designed to build confidence, not rush you through No pressure. No one watching. Just time and space to learn properly. Why make the Bianca Coat? Because sometimes you want a project that: Comes together efficiently Uses great fabric to do the heavy lifting Feels comfortable, practical, and wearable Teaches you techniques you’ll use again and again This is slow sewing in the best sense — fewer things, made better.
