Château Lafon Sauternes 2023. Did you know that the vineyards of Château Lafon are literally located, like a peninsula, that extends out within the vineyards of their immediate and surrounding neighbour Château d’Yquem? Well, it has been recently announced that Yquem has therefore purchased Château Lafon in order to incorporate their production into that of Yquem. Which given the immediate proximity of the vineyards makes complete sense. As a result, vintages 2023 and 2024 will be the last to be made and sold as Château Lafon and from vintage 2025 onwards Lafon’s grapes will be incorporated into the wines of Château d’Yquem. Remember, Yquem sells for about 20 times more per bottle than Lafon! So do the maths… and make the most of Ch. Lafon while we can still get it.
