Wood Booger Mug

This wheel-thrown mug features the Wood Booger, the legendary cryptid of the Blue Ridge Mountains, rendered in crisp relief against a soft, speckled surface. The Satin White glaze allows iron flecks within the stoneware to bleed through as natural spots, a direct result of the reduction firing atmosphere pulling minerals from the clay body into the glaze. Every aspect of the form, from the flared rim to the pulled handle, is designed to balance a playful regional icon with the tactile quality of high-fired stoneware. This piece was fired to Cone 10 in a reduction kiln, a process that creates a fuel-rich atmosphere that interacts with the clay and glaze in ways that can't be fully controlled or predicted. No two pieces from the same firing are identical. Dimensions: 5" in height x 3.25" in diameter (5" width including handle). Capacity: 16 ounces. Handwashing recommended.
