Etago
Etago is an experimental coffee from Kericho County in the southern part of the Rift Valley in Kenya. Expect juicy blackberries upfront, followed by a dried fruit sweetness and a bright redcurrant finish. Founded by Fred Langat and Sidney Kibet, Lot 20 Coffee works to organise farmers across Kericho and Bomet, enabling them to process and sell their own coffee without reliance on middlemen or the auction system. After careful harvesting, the cherries are fermented for four days with Ava, a fungus related to Koji. Inspired by traditional Japanese fermentations used in the production of rice wine, soy sauce and miso, this process brings added depth, structure and sweetness to the cup.
