OUD — A POINT OF PRIDE Our Oud accord was constructed using 23 individual materials. It was inspired by my first encounter with genuine oud at Beverly Hills Perfumery, where Alan burned a small nugget of real oud that completely overtook the store with its majestic, complex aroma. Anyone who has experienced true oud understands its power — and its rarity. Authentic oud can be more expensive than gold, which is why the vast majority of fragrances on the market contain no real oud at all. Ours does. We incorporate real oud at a 5% dilution, then build upon it using the traditional perfumer’s approach, carefully layering complementary materials to recreate the depth, texture, and evolution of natural oud. Notes and materials used in constructing this accord include kephalis, cypriol, poudre à la maréchale, dihydro gamma, immortelle, guaiac wood, civet, labdanum, sandalore, and others — each chosen to capture the resinous warmth, subtle animalic nuance, smoky woodiness, and golden richness that define authentic oud.
