Daniel Marot
The French designer and architect Daniel Marot (1661-1752), who mostly lived and worked in the Dutch Republic, managed to make a prominent name for himself. Today still, he is praised for his comprehensive and multifaceted oeuvre, which, at the same time, has been subject to surprisingly little in-depth research. In this publication, which is the first ever book on Marot in the English language, no less than 36 royal palaces, castles and country houses will be discussed. Most of these are situated in the Netherlands, but Marot also worked on a number of locations in England, as well as Germany and Italy.
