Indian Wood Printing Block - Om Flower (7cm)

Indian Wood Printing Block Handcrafted in India using sustainable sheesham wood, our wood printing blocks are made on a fair-trade basis by our long-standing supplier Gurmakh and his family. Each block is individually hand carved using traditional methods passed down through generations. The design is first formed using heated metal wire, which is pressed into the raw wood to leave scorched guide marks. These marks are then carefully hand carved to create a deep, crisp pattern suitable for printing. Once carved, the blocks are soaked in linseed oil, dried, and finished with a gesso-white printing surface to create a smooth, durable finish. Natural wood oils sometimes tint the gesso to a soft light brown, adding to each block’s unique character. These blocks are cut deep enough for printing onto fabric or paper and work beautifully with acrylic paint, fabric paint, or printing ink. Skilled users can also print with henna onto skin or press designs into clay. Alternatively, they make a striking decorative art piece for the home. Measures approximately 7cm across.
