Vintage Pauline Trigère Swing Coat
This vintage swing coat was made by Pauline Trigère in the 1980s, for the designer's “A Trigère Coat” label. Born in Paris, Pauline Trigère emigrated to New York in 1937 and almost immediately began working as a fashion designer. She is known for her work with draping and angles, and this coat is exemplary of her style. Made in 1980s, it references the elegant swing coats popularized in the 1950s— Trigère is, after all, known for designing some of the costumes in the iconic film Breakfast at Tiffany’s, so she is a master of that midcentury glamour and sophistication, and this coat is the greatest example of that. It has a soft, teddy-bear like fabrication. I love the asymmetrical nature, with oversized patch pocket and toggle-style buttons. Since the shape is less fitted by design, it's such a great layering piece— something you can put over super chunky sweaters and little dresses alike. I love that it looks great worn opened, or fully buttoned. Measurements: Note that this will fit a range of sizes depending on desired fit, likely Small, Medium, and Large, but please refer to below measurements to be sure.
