Anzu Lidded Pot - Black
Product Description Nankei Pottery: Futamono Anzu — Black A sculptural vessel for the small essentials of daily life. The Futamono Anzu is a masterwork of organic geometry. While "Futamono" refers to its lidded design, "Anzu" is the Japanese word for Apricot—a name reflected in the vessel’s soft, rounded silhouette and fruit-like proportions. The Anzu Silhouette: Inspired by the soft curves of an apricot, the Anzu shape is slightly more upright than the Teppatsu, offering a refined, elegant profile. It feels balanced and substantial in the hand, making every interaction a sensory experience. Breathable Storage: Because the interior is unglazed and porous, the clay "breathes." This makes it an excellent salt pot or vessel for tea leaves, though it is equally at home on a vanity holding rings or keepsakes. A Refined Incense Ritual: The deep, heat-resistant body of the Banko-yaki clay is perfect for use as an incense burner. Fill the bowl with white incense ash to create a stable, traditional base for standing sticks. The lid allows you to gracefully contain the ash when not in use, keeping your ritual space tidy and minimalist. Raw Kuro-neri Clay: Left entirely unglazed, the iron-rich black clay has a deep, matte charcoal finish reminiscent of smooth river stone. The porous surface is "alive"—it will absorb the natural oils from your hands over time, developing a soft, personalised luster. While oil stains may occur more easily than on glazed items, they can typically be removed by applying a small amount of detergent and scrubbing with a brush. Because these pieces are unglazed and crafted from raw, mineral-rich earth, you may notice subtle orange blushes or tiny dark iron spots on the surface. These are not defects, but the natural mineral colours of the clay reacting to the high heat of the kiln. Each piece is a unique record of its firing, carrying the honest fingerprints of the Japanese landscape.
