Flameworking 102- Next Steps in Glass Beadmaking
This course is for students who have taken our Introduction to Flameworking class or equivalent, and are ready to practice their skills and learn new techniques. Flameworking instructor and studio owner Holly Kenny provides a solid foundation and builds on the fundamentals of soft glass manipulation. This 3-week session covers a wide range of glass bead techniques - from becoming skilled at making simple "donut" and round beads, to creating a variety of shapes and textures using both tools and free-hand work. You'll learn multiple decorating methods such as how to: -use stringer and chards -do multiple ways of encasing -make and use simple and complex twisted cane -perform detailed stringer control for intricate dot work, masking and layering. -incorporate metals and wire to add depth and dimension beads This course includes a balance of instructor demonstrations, discussions and lots of hands-on torch time and practice. All materials are included. Registration is limited to 4 to ensure individual instruction Students benefit most when taking all three sessions consecutively, but with instructor approval, each session can be a "stand alone" class, if desired.
