The HotGripA patent pending thumb rest that keeps the hot shoe live. The angled profile puts the rear buttons back under your thumb, and a sliding lid keeps the contacts clean, stored on the grip when you take it off. The EyeKupIt shields the EVF from peripheral light, so contrast comes up and the frame reads clearly on a bright street. A rubberized pad takes the contact, kind to glasses and to the skin around your eye. The Shutter Topper, 12 mmA concave face that finds your finger and gives the release a defined bite. Threads in by hand, no tools, and comes off the same way. One finish, three piecesOrdered separately these rarely match, and they cost $70 more. Ordered as the kit they are finished as a set, so the grip, the eyecup and the topper carry the same colour across the top plate. Compatible with manual mode flashes with center pin. Skip solvents and abrasive pastes: the anodized layer is the finish, and once it is cut through it does not grow back. Brass. It dulls as it oxidizes. Leave it and it darkens evenly, which is what most people want. Polish it and it comes back bright. Black Patina. Treat it as brass, but gently. Hard polishing will lift the patina off the high points, which is either the look you wanted or the one you did not. The rubber pad. A damp cloth. Nothing solvent based near it. Can I still use a flash with the HotGrip on?Yes, that is the point of it. Center pin manual flashes pass straight through. TTL, HSS, Visoflex and multi pin accessories will not work properly, and some will not seat at all. Do I need to buy anything else for the EyeKup?No. It mounts on the HotGrip, and the HotGrip is in this box. Will the Black Patina look like the photographs?Close, not identical. Each piece is finished by hand through an organic process, so the depth and the break of the patina vary. That variation is the finish, not a fault in it. Can I buy the three pieces separately?You can, each is sold on its own. The kit exists so they arrive in one matched finish, cut as a set, and $70 cheaper.
