A beautiful and useful Australian native, Tasmannia lanceolata, also known as Tasmanian Pepperberry or Mountain Pepper, is valued for its attractive evergreen foliage and aromatic, peppery leaves. This listing is for a MALE plant. Male plants produce pollen-bearing flowers and are an important companion for female plants, providing the pollen required for successful pepperberry production. Although male plants do not produce berries, their aromatic leaves can be harvested throughout the year and used fresh or dried as a native pepper-style seasoning. Tasmannia lanceolata grows as an upright shrub or small tree with narrow, glossy green leaves and reddish young stems. Small cream to white flowers are produced in spring. For best growth, plant in a cool position with moist, well-drained soil and protection from hot sun and drying winds.
