A double length grommet, 40 m overall, with 1.0 m (3 ft) soft eyes and lashed chafe protection at each end. What it doesA stretcher is the elastic element in the tow. A low-stretch main towline passes shock loading straight through to the gear and the hull; the stretcher is the piece that absorbs it.It is rigged in line with the towline and is the component that should be inspected most often, because it is the one doing the absorbing.
