Teak modular bookcase by Avalon (Made in England 1960)

A beautifully crafted modular shelving unit designed by Robert Heritage for Avalon and handcrafted in the UK. The composition combines a long teak sideboard with two sliding-door cupboards at each end and a central bank of three drawers, together with a long open teak shelf. Above, the bookcase features a generous open central section, flanked by a smaller cupboard on each side, each enclosed by a sliding door. Two elegant black metal structures support the teak modules, creating a light, architectural look while providing a strong, practical framework. The unit has arrived in exceptionally good original condition. Our restorers only needed to carefully clean all components, including the teak modules and shelf, then apply wax to revive and protect the teak’s natural colour and character. A versatile and beautifully proportioned example of British mid-century design, offering generous storage and display space while making a strong architectural statement.
