For damage a polish will not touch: deep scratches, sanding marks from 1000 to 1500 grit, heavy oxidation, weathered clear coat. This is the aggressive end of paint correction, and it behaves like it. It levels the defect and leaves its own marks behind — finer than what you removed, but visible, especially on dark paint. That is normal and it is why this is step one, not the only step.
