Fisher F44 Field Kit with 11 in DD Coil and F-Pulse Pinpointer
The Fisher F44 Field Kit is the weatherproof metal detector kit for the hunter who does not check the forecast: the Fisher F44 with the 11 in DD search coil, plus the Fisher F-Pulse pulse induction pinpointer. Rain, wet grass, dry sand, mineralized dirt, and a recovery tool that stays quiet in all of it. At a glance Fisher F44 metal detector with pinpointer: 7.69 kHz, weatherproof housing, five modes (Jewelry, Coin, Artifact, Custom, All Metal), 2-digit target ID 1 to 99, FeTone iron audio, Ground Grab plus manual ground balance, backlight, 11 in (28 cm) waterproof DD search coil, 2.3 lb (1.04 kg), two AA; plus the Fisher F-Pulse pinpointer, waterproof to 6 ft (1.8 m). Coins, jewelry, relics; beginner to intermediate. Why this kit The F44 is the only machine in its class that is built to keep hunting in rain, and the question we hear is "which coil?" The standard F44 ships an 11 in (28 cm) concentric coil, which is fine in clean parks and dry sand. The F44-11DD in this kit carries the 11 in (28 cm) DD coil instead, and Fisher's own manual says why: biaxial coils give better penetration in mineralized soil, and they separate targets better in trash. That is the coil for red clay, old farm fields and the back of the beach. One other dealer packages the F44-11DD with the F-Pulse, and pads the price with a bag, a digger and a pouch; we sell the two core items at their regular prices and let you pick your own digging tool. The F-Pulse earns its place because the F44 reads a 2-digit target ID and a depth bar, so you already know roughly what and how deep; the pinpointer turns that into a plug the size of your palm instead of a hole the size of the coil. What the F44 does, honestly Five modes: Jewelry notches out iron, Coin notches out iron, foil and aluminum, Artifact runs everything with tones, Custom lets you assign one of five tones to each of nine target categories and remembers them, and All Metal gives a single proportional tone with the most depth. The 2-digit target ID runs 1 to 99 with iron at 1 to 19, nickels and most gold rings in the 30s and 40s, dimes in the 60s and quarters in the 70s. FeTone turns iron down without turning coins down, and the iron-group border still flashes when iron is present even if you have notched it silent, which relic hunters use to read a site. Press and hold Ground Grab over clean ground and the F44 balances itself; All Metal also has a manual ground setting from 0 to 99. The depth graph is calibrated to coin-sized targets to about 10 in (25 cm), and pinpoint mode holds a no-motion tone with the depth in inches on the screen. Two AA batteries run 25 to 30 hours. The limits: the housing is weatherproof, not submersible, and the F44 is not designed for wet salt sand, where Ground Grab will refuse to balance. Dry sand is fine. Headphones are not included. Torn between the F44 and the F19? Call (256) 284-2247 and tell us where you hunt; we will give it to you straight. The story is more important than the artifact. Frequently asked questions Which kit do I need: the F44 Field Kit or the F19 Field Kit? Coins, jewelry and relics in parks, yards and dry sand, and you want push-button modes, a backlight and a machine that shrugs off rain: the F44 Field Kit. Relics in iron-heavy ground or small gold in mineralized soil, and you prefer knobs for gain and threshold: the Fisher F19 Field Kit at 19 kHz. Both kits include the same F-Pulse pinpointer, and so does the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV First Detector Kit if a first detector on a tight budget is the real question. Why the 11 in (28 cm) DD coil instead of the standard concentric coil? Fisher's manual says it directly: biaxial coils give better penetration in mineralized soil. The DD also separates targets in trashy sites. If you only hunt clean parks and dry sand, the standard F44 with the concentric coil is a fine choice and we sell it separately. Is the Fisher F44 waterproof? Weatherproof. Rain, splashes and dust are fine, and the search coil and lower pole can go under water. The control housing must never be submerged. The F-Pulse in the kit is waterproof to 6 ft (1.8 m). Can I use the F44 on a saltwater beach? Dry sand, yes. Wet salt sand is highly conductive and Fisher states the F44 is not designed for it; Ground Grab will not balance there. For wet salt you want a different class of machine. Does the F44 have a pinpoint mode, and why add a pinpointer? Yes, press and hold PP for a no-motion tone with depth in inches. The pinpointer finishes the job inside the hole: the F-Pulse finds the coin in the plug so you dig small and refill clean. What batteries does the kit use? Two AA alkaline in the F44, 25 to 30 hours; two AA in the F-Pulse, up to 25 hours. No proprietary packs. Batteries are not included. Will the F44 find gold? Gold rings and jewelry, yes; most rings read in the nickel and aluminum groups. There is no prospecting mode, and the manual notes gold flakes register under iron, so sub-gram nuggets in hot ground are the Fisher Gold Bug 2 Gold Kit's job, not the F44's. Is the F44 good for beginners? Yes. Coin and Jewelry modes work out of the box, and Custom mode, FeTone and manual ground balance give you years of room to grow.
