Ceramic Ashtray – Upsala-Ekeby No. 3, Harald Östergren, Sweden (1939–1948)

A vintage Swedish ceramic ashtray produced by Upsala-Ekeby and designed by Harald Östergren. The ashtray has a low, circular form with a recessed centre, three cigarette rests and a raised, repeating geometric pattern around the outer edge. The glaze combines deep green, turquoise-green and dark brown-black tones, creating a varied surface with contrasting highlights. The underside is impressed with “EKEBY 3”. According to a specialist reference listing for Upsala-Ekeby, this is Ashtray No. 3, designed by Harald Östergren and produced between 1939 and 1948.
