November’s Soldier of Fortune figure depicts Susan Travers, a British nurse who fought in French service during World War II, and later became the only woman to officially join the infamous French Foreign Legion. Serving with the French Red Cross at the outbreak of the war, Travers would go on to have a truly extraordinary career as a nurse and driver alongside Free French forces. Nicknamed ‘La Miss’, she served as Marie-Pierre Kœnig’s driver, escaping the brutal defence of Bir Hakeim at the wheel of his staff car, leading the French column to safety. She continued to serve with the Foreign Legion throughout Italy and into Germany, being wounded by a landmine but surviving the war. She would later go on to see action in Indochina, and survived until 2003, having led a remarkable life! Our figure depicts Travers in the thick of the action in North Africa, with pistol and medical bag poised to render aid wherever it’s needed - perfect for any Foreign Legion force in need of a medic! La Miss is a very busy woman, and the war won’t wait. She’s only available for the month of November, after which time she’ll be right back into the thick of the action with the Legion! Model supplied unassembled and unpainted
