ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP The Merchant & Mills Audrey is a simple, cozy hooded scarf, made with a contrast or self lining. Make it in midweight wool, double gauze, light to midweight corduroy or quilted jacquard. Line it with cotton voile, lightweight linen, cotton poplin, lightweight wool, or a soft brushed cotton. Merchant & Mills rates it beginner. This two-hour Zoom sewing workshop focuses on construction: shaping a hood from panels, finishing curves, understitching, and bagging out a lined piece. WHAT YOU’LL MAKE A fully lined hooded scarf in a cozy main fabric with a contrast or self lining. WHAT YOU’LL LEARN Reading and working from a garment pattern Joining curved panels to shape a hood, the basis of hoods and shaped seams on garments Trimming, clipping and notching curves so they turn out smooth, a step in every collar and facing Understitching: what keeps facings and linings rolled to the inside on any garment Bagging out a lined piece, the method behind lined vests, jackets and bags Closing a turning gap neatly by machine or slipstitch WHAT YOU’LL GET 2 hours of live online sewing instruction across one 2-hour session Multi-camera demos - top-down, machine-level, and table view, so you see exactly what’s happening at every step Video replay access to every session, with detailed written notes for each one A dedicated online workshop space for sharing progress, asking questions, and connecting with fellow students Lifetime access to all Audrey Hood replays, notes, and resources SUPPLIES You'll need the pattern, fabric and a few basic notions.
