Christmas Table Runner — Part 2 of 2 Date: Thursday, November 12th Time: 10:30am – 2:00pm Price: $25 Instructor: Kathy Smith Location: Universal City About This Class In this follow-up to our Christmas Appliqué Block class, you’ll take your finished center block and construct a beautiful Christmas table runner using a French braid piecing technique. Along the way you’ll also learn how to apply binding with clean mitered corners for a truly professional finish. Pfaff and Viking owners will get the most out of this class with Kathy’s machine-specific guidance, but all machine brands are welcome! Skills Learned: French Braid Piecing, Binding, Mitered Corners, Quilting Didn't do part 1? No worries, we'll use a focal fabric instead! Supply List Machine/Foot Pedal, Power Cord/Manual ¼" Piecing Foot Standard Presser Foot (with built-in IDT/IDF) or Walking Foot (for machines without built-in IDT/IDF) 80/12 Universal Needle Neutral Sewing Thread (with matching bobbin) Monofilament Thread (for quilting in the ditch) Scissors & Snips Rotary Cutter & Sharp Blade Quilting Ruler & Quilter’s Square Straight Pins or Clips Curved Quilting Pins Safety Pins or Quilting Basting Spray Your finished 12" Appliquéd or Embroidered Center Block (from Part 1) ¼ Yard each of 3 Different Christmas Fabrics (for French braid strips) ½ Yard Border Fabric (red in sample — for border, peeper strips & 2½" squares) ¼ Yard Binding Fabric ¾ Yard Backing Fabric 2 Yards Cotton/Poly Batting or Fusible Fleece (55" x 20") Extension Table (optional but recommended) Cutting Mat (optional — available in classroom) Iron & Pressing Mat (optional — available in classroom) Class Prep Please starch and cut your fabric prior to class as follows: From each of your 3 Christmas fabrics: cut 3 strips 2½" x WOF, then sub-cut into (8) 12" long strips per fabric. From your border fabric: cut 4 strips 2½" x WOF. From your border fabric: cut 1 strip 2½" x WOF, then sub-cut into (12) 2½" squares. From your border fabric: cut 2 strips 1" x WOF (for peeper strips around center block). From your binding fabric: cut 4 strips 2¼" x WOF.
