Why these two parts together A tired thermostat opens late and opens lazily, so the engine's already hot before the coolant starts moving. A viscous hub that's lost its oil lets the fan freewheel when it should be locking up and pulling air through the radiator. Get both wrong at once and you're running hot on every long climb, which is how cylinder heads end up cracked. They're the two cheapest parts in the cooling system and they're the two that go quietly. Doing one without the other is doing half the job. What's in the kit Genuine Toyota thermostat, 82 degree, part 90916-03075, with the gasket. Ordered in from Toyota against your order, so it's the real part and not a copy. Viscous Fan Hub Clutch Oil, 30ml of 10,000cSt silicone. More than the standard 18ml Toyota bottle, so there's enough for a full service with some left over. What this won't fix If your hub is seized solid, or the bearing's rumbling, or it's weeping oil down the front of the pulley, the oil won't save it and you need a new fan clutch. And if you're losing coolant with no puddle under the truck, that's a head gasket conversation, not a cooling service. The job Thermostat is about ten minutes with the housing off. The hub takes half an hour, four bolts and a manual impact driver for the screws. Neither needs the truck on a hoist.
