Grown in the mild, sun-rich climate of Kagoshima in southern Japan, Mizobe is our approachable ceremonial grade matcha, made for anyone ready to move beyond everyday culinary powders and taste what real matcha can be. Picked in the first harvest of 2026, when the tea plants are at their most tender and nutrient-rich, Mizobe is made from young spring leaves that are naturally sweeter and gentler than later pickings. Shading period Before harvest, the plants are covered for two weeks . This shading slows growth and encourages the leaves to build up chlorophyll and amino acids, especially L-theanine, the compound behind matcha's savoury depth. The result is a vivid green powder with a smooth, rounded character and very little bitterness.
