Moates Lane 2024 Chardonnay Dozen
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 91 Points – “It's elegantly expressed on the nose, showing white flesh peach, Gala apple, rockmelon, and nougat notes, followed by a finely flowing palate offering juicy fruit flavours with silky texture and well-pithed acidity, making it immediately appealing.” Vino Masters Score: 95/100 ★★★★★ – “Pale straw with bright lemon hues. Aromas of honeydew melon, quince and subtle toasted hazelnut are supported by delicate citrus and gentle oak notes. The palate is medium to full-bodied with ripe pear, grapefruit and creamy stone fruit flavours. Gentle lees influence and oak create texture and depth before a smooth, rich and lingering finish. It’s all oak and fruit, just perfectly balanced. Buttery – yes indeed. A well-balanced Pyrenees Chardonnay delivering generous fruit with robust flavours.” Russ Gallagher - August 2026 COLOUR Clear, bright, pale lemon. NOSE Rich, clean, semi-pronounced aromas of honeydew melon, quince and subtle toasty hazelnut. PALATE Clean, rich, medium-bodied flavours of pear and ripe grapefruit intertwined with a soft French toast background, with a moderate finish of toasty, soft lemon meringue. WINEMAKING The grapes were machine harvested, crushed, destemmed and pressed. Fermentation took place over 12 days with selected yeast to enhance both full flavour development and complexity. The wine was kept on lees contact for a further 2 months before being racked and stabilised for protein and tartrate stability, carefully blended and prepared for bottling. FOOD PAIRING Grilled shrimp, pesto pasta, cheese and nibbles. VINTAGE NOTES Cool conditions in early spring enabled a subsequent long growing season. A warm, dry summer subsided into ideal cooler autumn conditions prior to harvest.
