The Gingko
Note from Sundara... I mentioned yesterday that I was trying out a new dyeing technique that would allow me to get more variegated colors, so for today, I wanted to see if I could use the method to combine complementary colors. As a friendly reminder, complementary colors have a tendency to turn brown and muddy when they are combined. Purple and yellow are complements, so when I tried this, I knew we wouldn't get BRIGHT or obvious purple and yellow. We needed to temper. But that was fine because this is awesome! This color is amazing. It's so different and unusual. It's definitely mustard-yellow, but the purple - in bits of lilac, lavender, and wisteria - keep it from being ugly 1970s mustard. It's more goldenrod or amber. Ochre, for those of you who might know your paint pigments. The color is absolutely lovely and one of my more favorites I've dyed recently. "The Gingko" will not be dyed again.
