Ecomix is a 5-component composite media that combines inert resin, FerroSorb, HumiSorb, cation exchange resin, and quartz sand to treat multiple water issues in one system. It is designed to reduce hardness, ferrous/ferric/organic/colloidal iron, manganese, tannins, and ammonium, making it a practical option for many private well applications. Unlike a standard softener media, Ecomix self-classifies into a 5-layer bed during regeneration and is regenerated like a regular softener using backwash, brine, rinse, and fill. The manufacturer notes that Ecomix performs best when raw water is fed directly to the unit and advises not using oxidative pre-treatment ahead of the system.
