Floral Collar - Sarcophagus of Peftjauneith
Discover 'Floral Collar', part of an exclusive collaboration between Kunstsokken and the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden. This design showcases the magnificent broad collar that Peftjauneith wore on his journey to the afterlife – a symbol of divine protection and eternal life. Limited Edition – Exclusive Museum Collection The broad floral collar, called 'wesekh' in ancient Egyptian, was not only placed on the body of the deceased but also painted on sarcophagi as protection for eternity. On the shoulders of this collar, you see two falcon heads – the fasteners that refer to the sun god Horachte or the death god Sokar. Such collars were specially intended for the dead and symbolized the transition to the divine. Every layer of the collar is carefully knitted: the geometric patterns, the floral motifs in red, blue, and green, and the central red solar disk. These socks bring the refined art of ancient Egypt into your daily life – a wearable piece of history that shows how the Egyptians believed that beauty and art could transcend death.
