Cellular Data Plan for GPS/GSM Units

For over a decade, CTT has negotiated the best cellular rates so your tags can do the science you need. With our new data plan, we're passing more of that flexibility through to you. Instead of locking you into a tier based on the duty cycle you committed to at the time of your order, you now pay for the data your unit actually sends. Build the configs that answer your biological questions, and we'll bill the data accordingly. How it works Every SIM ships active and ready to deploy. From the billing portal, you control whether each SIM is active or paused, and you manage your data however you'd like. Active SIM: $3.00 / month Paused SIM: $1.50 / month Data: $0.01 / kB Activations take effect immediately. Pauses take effect at the start of the following month. What this actually costs Your bill scales with how hard you push your unit. Some back-of-the-napkin guidance based on typical deployments: Configuration Expect to pay GPS at 15-min intervals or less, connecting once a day Under $5/month (~$60/year per unit) GPS at 5 to 14 min intervals, connecting once a day Under $10/month (~$120/year per unit) Flight mode, raw ACC data, sub-5-min GPS, or multiple connections per day Under $30/month (~$360/year per unit) We estimate that 90% of users will pay less for data than they do today, while gaining full flexibility to design configs that answer the questions they actually care about. The benefit, in one word: freedom Under the old model, your data plan dictated what your unit was allowed to collect. Under the new model, your science dictates what your unit collects, and the data plan follows along. Want to ramp up sampling during the migration window and dial it back through the breeding season? Flex your transmitter muscles however you see fit. You're paying for the data you use, not the ceiling you might hit. How data is sold Data is sold in $60 blocks. Each block represents the estimated cost of running a single unit for a full year at up to 15-minute GPS, connecting once a day. Think of it as an annual estimate, with two important details: Your data does not expire. If a block lasts you more than a year, great. It rolls over until you've used it. When you do run out, just add another block to keep going. Blocks are flexible. Buy as many as you need and assign them across one or more devices. You manage your billing groups and your data however makes sense for your project. Existing customers on the legacy Economy / Standard / Unlimited plans, you don't need to do anything.
