Rhopalomeris carnifex Often called the "Candy Corn" or "Strawberry" millipede, is a small 1 inch, colorful Southeast Asian species known for its bright yellow/red banding and ability to roll into a ball. These exotic, detritivorous pets require specifically high-humidity environments with rotting wood and leaf litter. Captive Bred Habitat: Tropical, requiring high humidity and rich, rotting wood substrate, avoiding coco fiber. Diet: Feed on decaying plant matter, wood, leaf mulch and moss. Their diet should consist of rotting hardwood, rotting hardwood leaves, live lichens and live mosses. The best hardwoods to feed to candy corn millipedes include: Oak (leaves and wood are often considered the best choice) Maple Beech Birch Alder Poplar Ash Elm Sycamore Hickory Fruit woods (such as from an apple tree) Key Feeding Guidelines: Decay Level: The wood should be in advanced stages of decay, specifically white wood that is soft, crumbly, and easily broken apart by hand.
