The Coven's most ancient and terrifying practitioner, Yaga is a towering hag sorceress centrepiece miniature that rises from a gnarled tree root base aboard a banded wooden barrel-throne, a figure of primal supernatural authority that commands absolute dread on any tabletop. This coven elder is no mere witch but something far older, a creature whose pointed ears, deeply lined face and enormous clawed hands mark her as something that existed long before the current age of eternal warfare. Wild white hair streams back from her hunched but powerful frame as a great eagle launches from her outstretched fist, wings spread wide in a breathtaking display that dramatically increases the model's visual footprint above its physical base. The composition is extraordinarily rich with narrative detail at every level. Yaga perches within her travelling barrel, one clawed hand raised holding a glowing skull that illuminates her face from below with supernatural light. The barrel itself is weathered and ancient, bound with iron straps and heavy rope, its exterior crawling with small goblinoid attendant creatures that cling to the sides with grasping hands. Mushrooms, twisted roots and forest debris surround the base, while additional skulls are tucked into the barrel's interior alongside what appears to be a bladed weapon partially concealed within her mobile fortress. As a coven leader and battlefield support character, Yaga occupies a unique narrative role as an ancient power broker whose allegiance to any warband comes with unpredictable and terrifying conditions. Her eagle familiar provides aerial reconnaissance and strike capability, her glowing skull focus channels supernatural energy into curses, hexes and reality-warping effects that devastate enemy morale and coherence before a single blade is drawn. The model sits on a stunning organic scenic base of twisted root formations and forest floor debris, with glowing green supernatural energy visible in mushroom caps and shadow recesses, tying Yaga unmistakably to the darker and more primordial aspects of coven lore. Supplied as a single unpainted, unassembled resin miniature with full scenic base, Yaga is an outstanding display quality centrepiece that will anchor any coven warband or dark fantasy collection with immediate and unforgettable presence. Painting Guide: Yaga Yaga rewards a painting approach built around the tension between warm firelight tones emanating from the glowing skull and the cold supernatural green of the forest magic below, with rich earthy naturalistic tones unifying the composition throughout. 1. Prime Prime grey overall to preserve the extraordinary surface detail across the wood grain barrel, organic root base, feathered eagle and deeply lined skin textures that make this model exceptional. 2. Armour Base Basecoat skin in Bugman's Glow shaded deeply with Reikland Fleshshade and Druchii Violet in the deepest wrinkles, building back up through Cadian Fleshtone to Kislev Flesh on the most prominent facial features and knuckles for an aged and weathered complexion. Paint the barrel in Rhinox Hide drybrushed with Gorthor Brown and Baneblade Brown to simulate aged weathered wood grain, then apply Agrax Earthshade into all recesses between barrel planks. 3. Trim and Details Paint iron barrel bands and rope bindings in Leadbelcher washed with Nuln Oil for the metal, and Rakarth Flesh washed with Agrax Earthshade for the rope, keeping both naturalistic and aged. Paint the goblinoid attendants in muted greens using Warboss Green shaded with Athonian Camoshade, keeping them visually subordinate to Yaga herself through lower contrast and cooler tones. 4. Weapons Paint the glowing skull focus in Screaming Skull highlighted to White Scar, then apply a warm OSL effect radiating outward using thinned Yriel Yellow fading to Jokaero Orange on Yaga's face, chest and raised hand surfaces. Add contrasting cold green OSL from the mushroom caps and root base using thinned Moot Green to suggest the coven's forest magic pulsing upward from below in opposition to the warm skull light above. 5. Weathering Stipple rust and age damage across all iron barrel bands using Ryza Rust and Doombull Brown, concentrating corrosion at band edges and rivet points to suggest decades of exposure to dark forest conditions. Apply pale dust and dried mud pigment to the root base and lower barrel exterior, and add dark green moss effects using stippled Loren Forest and Moot Green on the most sheltered lower surfaces. 6. Bases The sculpted base suits a dark enchanted forest floor treatment: paint roots and earth in deep browns drybrushed up to Baneblade Brown, paint mushroom caps in rich reds or purples highlighted with cream, apply gloss varnish to all mushroom caps and pooled earth recesses for a wet forest floor sheen, and add sickly green OSL beneath mushroom caps to reinforce the coven magic emanating from the ground itself.
