Pair of Qajar era Persian bohemian glass decanters/vases 21" by 6"

The oval medallion features a hand-painted portrait of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar, who ruled Persia (Iran) from 1848 to 1896. Items featuring his portrait were very popular decorative items in 19th- and early 20th-century Persia. Material & Style: They are made of cranberry red/ruby glass overlay (Bohemian-style cut-to-clear or overlaid glass) with heavy gilt (gold leaf) detailing, floral enamel accents, and long pointed stoppers. Origin/Export: Many of these pieces were manufactured in Bohemia (modern-day Czech Republic) or Russia specifically for export to the Persian market during the late 19th or early 20th century.
