Vintage Arreador or Gaucho Whip - w1856

An arreador, an Argentinian whip carried by gauchos. In this example there is a domed cap with bans of cast foliate decoration. There is a ring at the top which holds a wrist chain. The shaft is made of red-brown wood There is a further wide collar with similar decoration to the cap and the lower end is similarly decorated and has a ring for the attachment of a leather thong The metal parts are stamped "800" (the quality of the silver), there are no maker's stamps Dimensions : Length of shaft : 11¼" (28.5cm) Weight 225g (8oz) Ref : whip1856
