The Dark Is Rising — LIMITED EDITION Print by Rosie Smith

The Dark Is Rising — Rosie Smith A Highland cow faces us from the gathering shadows, its long, dark horns sweeping outward and upward above a tumble of shaggy russet hair. Warm copper and chestnut brushstrokes catch the light across its coat, while deep blue-green shadows surround it and streaks of gold, teal and violet glow in the background. There’s a quiet strength to this portrait, a steady presence that holds your attention long after that first glance. The Dark Is Rising is a standalone artwork by Rosie Smith, bringing together the Highland cow’s rugged character and a richly atmospheric play of light and darkness. Rosie Smith is a UK-based wildlife and conservation artist working in watercolour and oils, whose paintings capture both the beauty and vulnerability of the natural world. A finalist in the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year and Sketch for Survival, she is committed to using art as a voice for conservation — contributing work to projects including the Big Elephant Auction with Explorers Against Extinction.
