Removal

Removal, 2026 Cyanotype print on tea paper In Removal, a small rag doll sits alone within an overwhelming frame of grevilleas. Its slumped posture and the space surrounding it make separation visible through scale, absence and isolation. Rather than depicting the act of removal itself, the work turns to what remains when a child is separated from the relationships that hold them — family, kinship, community, culture and Country. The quietness of the image asks us to recognise violence beyond the moment of force: in the absence of familiar arms, in interrupted belonging and in the distance created between a child and home.
