2023 K1 Pinot Noir
Adelaide Hills Story: 5 clones of Pinot Noir are grown on the K1 vineyard, these are processed separately then stored in oak. As the season affects each clone differently, keeping them separate allows only the best barrels to be selected for this wine. Vintage: The 2023 vintage was very cool and very even in temperature, so we were able to harvest each variety in its perfect window of premium ripeness for the intended wine styles. This was the third cool year in a row and the fruit flavours across the board were exceptional. Nose: Lifted and perfumed, with delicate rose water and violets layered over fresh strawberry. Blackberry leaf adds a subtle savoury edge and extra complexity. Palate: Raspberry, strawberry and rhubarb bring a vibrant mix of red fruit and tartness to the palate. Blackberry leaf and pink peppercorn add a savoury, gently spiced character, while chocolate and tobacco provide depth through the finish. Food Pairings: Pair with a creamy mushroom and thyme pasta. The earthy mushrooms complement the wine’s savoury blackberry leaf and tobacco notes, while the creamy sauce works beautifully with its bright red fruits and gentle spice.
