Stream Farm Organic Cockerel

These organic cockerel's are the very definition of free range, coming from Stream Farm in Somerset they roam the hills foraging amongst nut and berry trees out in the fresh air with sheds to sleep in. These Devonshire Gold birds are slowly reared to 125 days (around 18 weeks) giving them time to eat a varied diet on the grassland, supplement with organic grain. This diet and time leads them to develop great flavour and lay down a good layer of buttery yellow fat under their skin. A great alternative to a traditional turkey, full of flavour and perfect for up to 8 people. Note: Cockerels differ from French Capons, which are castrated male birds, a practice we no longer allow in the UK. Unlike the traditional Capon diet of milk soaked oats, these cockerels eat a varied diet of foraged plants and insects supplemented with organic grain, which results in a more flavoursome bird.
