The Old Course, captured by hand The Old Course is the second original work from Kartel Studio—a hand-painted tribute to the landscape, architecture and history of golf’s most celebrated setting. The composition looks across the Swilcan Bridge towards the buildings lining the 18th fairway, with the unmistakable Old Course Hotel rising beyond. Rendered in a restrained, hand-drawn style, the dial has the character of an original architectural sketch. Every dial is individually painted by hand in St Andrews. Small variations in the lines, shading and texture ensure that no two watches will ever be exactly alike. One of only eighteen KSTA.002 The Old Course is limited to eighteen individually numbered watches. Once the eighteenth dial has been completed, the work will be permanently retired and entered into the Kartel Studio archive. It will never be reproduced as another edition. Each watch is individually numbered and accompanied by its own certificate of authenticity. An integrated work of art The finely detailed artwork is housed within a sculpted stainless-steel case with a fully integrated bracelet. Day and date complications are incorporated into the dial, bringing traditional watchmaking functionality into a miniature scene of St Andrews. Applied hour markers and polished hands sit above the artwork, allowing the painting and the watch to exist as one complete composition.
