95 points. - The Review Te Wāhi is Cloudy Bay’s Central Otago Pinot Noir. The 2022 begins quietly, then opens to damson, raw cacao and a hint of star anise. Blackberry, plum and sloe fruit form a generous core on the palate, framed by silky tannins, fragrant spice and a fresh, graphite-like note. It is richer and more structured than Cloudy Bay’s Marlborough Pinot Noir, while retaining poise. Choose dishes with enough depth for the wine’s dark fruit and structure: slow-roasted lamb shoulder, roast duck, venison or mushroom dishes. For a Singapore table, I would start with roast duck with a restrained five-spice seasoning; its savoury richness suits the Pinot, while the wine’s fruit and freshness lift each bite. Cloudy Bay also recommends lamb with grilled root vegetables or beef Wellington. Serve around 12–15°C.
