Western Cape Fynbos
Fynbos is one of the Western Cape’s most extraordinary natural treasures. This unique vegetation is found mainly in the Cape Floral Kingdom, a region renowned for its exceptional plant diversity and beauty. The name fynbos comes from Afrikaans, meaning “fine bush,” referring to the fine, often narrow leaves of many of its plants. Stretching across the Cape’s mountains, coastal plains and valleys, fynbos creates a remarkable landscape of delicate flowers, silvery foliage, aromatic shrubs and striking indigenous plants. It is especially associated with the Cape Peninsula, the Cape Winelands, the Overberg and the Cederberg.
