Look closely and there is something going on in every direction. The scene was drawn to be discovered from all four sides of the table. Paige’s loose, hand-painted line gives Après Mahj the charm of an old illustrated ski map or a particularly good piece of vintage wrapping paper: funny, detailed and a little chaotic, but never so busy that it competes with the tiles.
