Spirit of Ghana

Spirit of Ghana transforms a functional metal vessel into a richly ornamented sculptural object. At its center is a serene, mask-like human visage modeled in polymer clay and rendered in deep charcoal, black, bronze, and gold. The face is framed by elaborate strands of beads and raised ornamental elements, creating an effect reminiscent of ceremonial regalia and ancestral adornment.Through its combination of sculptural modeling, beadwork, geometric pattern, and metallic surface, Spirit of Ghana explores ideas of heritage, identity, adornment, ancestry, and spiritual presence. The work draws upon the visual language of African ceremonial art while reinterpreting it through contemporary mixed-media craft. The resulting vessel functions not simply as a decorative object, but as a sculptural portrait whose commanding presence invites contemplation of cultural memory and the enduring power of ancestral imagery. Medium: Polymer clay, wooden, metal and seed beads. Metal vase. Dimensions: 14" H x 15" W x 8" D
