If there's one tip every decorator ends up owning, it's the 1M. This is the one behind those big bakery-style cupcake swirls, and it makes rosettes, stars and shells look effortless. It's a large open star tip, so it covers cupcakes and biscuits quickly without a lot of fiddling, and it's just as good for adding swirls across the top of a cake. The finely cut ridges are what give the piping that crisp, detailed edge. Handy touch: the number is engraved on the tip, so you'll actually find it again in a drawer full of look-alikes.
