Star Seed Rock 13

Acrylic, polystyrene 70mm height x 50mm width 50mm depth 2026 Rohan Wealleans is a bold and unrelenting force in contemporary Aotearoa art. Known for his vividly layered, sculptural paintings and transformative use of colour and texture, Rohan pushes materials to their limits. His work often blurs the line between painting and sculpture, resulting in forms that seem to erupt from the surface; otherworldly, excessive, and alive with energy. Drawing from pop culture, science fiction, mysticism, and bodily forms, Rohan creates visual experiences that are both visceral and surreal. His obsessive carving and building up of paint results in works that feel geological, theatrical, and mythic; each piece a portal to an alternate realm. Rohan’s distinctive practice has gained widespread recognition, with works held in major public and private collections throughout Aotearoa and beyond.
