Payne, E.F. – Model 96

Description Particulars For your consideration is a difficult-to-source E.F. Payne Model 96 bamboo fly rod. This is a 6' 6" two-piece for a 3 or 4 weight line weighing 3.10 oz. This rod consists of medium-tempered cane with brown wraps tipped in gold. In my hand, the action is medium-fast, and it's a very special wand for small to medium-sized streams. This rod came to me in all original condition with two issues. One guide on a tip had broken through the silks, and the owner had used the cork as a hook keeper. Don Schroeder replaced the cork and spacer, rewrapped the third guide down on one tip, and reblued the cap and ring. The rod is all original with those exceptions noted. These short Payne rods are increasingly becoming more difficult to find in any condition. Payment via check or bank transfer is requested. Under Payment in checkout, select "Check or Bank Transfer." All PayPal or credit card orders will be billed an additional 3%. Model: 96 Length: 6' 6" Configuration: Two-piece Weight: 3.10 oz. Line: 3 or 4 weight Serial Number: NA
