Harrisia simpsonii – “Big Pine Key” 1 gallon pot (Florida sales only) (Copy)

One of three species of endemic Florida Harrisia, Simpson’s apple cactus is only found in Monroe Co. Florida and is critically endangered. These are in 1 gallon pots. I can only sell these in Florida, as explained to me by FWC, USFWS. This sampling is the authentic H. simpsonii and Florida botanical gardens have this same mother plant’s seed/plants accessioned, documented. I germinated this crop of Harrisia simpsonii “Big Pine Key” from a fruit given to me by a private landowner in Big Pine Key with whom I’m doing a project. Plants from this lot have already gone back to him for replenishment on his land. This Harrisia gets large, round deep yellow fruit, and the stem has short, cream-colored to light yellow needles that differ from H. aboriginum and H. fragrans that I also have in cultivation at the farm. It is the most decumbent (sprawling, leaning) of the three endemic Florida Harrisia.
