How to Plant: Direct Sow (Outdoors): Sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost date. Press seeds lightly into the soil surface; do not cover them completely as they need light to germinate. Start Indoors (Optional): For an earlier start, sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Soil Requirements: Well-draining, average to poor soil. Black-Eyed Susan thrives in sandy or rocky soils and does not like wet feet. Watering: Keep soil lightly moist until germination. Once established, water only during prolonged dry periods. Fertilizing: No fertilization required. Over-fertilizing will lead to leggy growth. Deadheading: Remove spent blooms regularly to encourage continuous flowering throughout the season.
