Polymaker ASA 3D Printer Filament Polymaker ASA is a 1.75 mm 3D printing filament built for outdoor durability. Designed as an advanced alternative to ABS, it offers similar strength and toughness with much better resistance to UV light, weather, and environmental stress cracking. It also prints with a subtle matte finish that helps hide layer lines. Polymaker ASA was formerly sold as PolyLite ASA, and some spools may still arrive in the earlier packaging. Built to Last Outdoors ASA is the go-to material for parts that spend their life outside: planters, mailbox hardware, garden fixtures, weather-station parts, bike and vehicle accessories, and functional enclosures. In Polymaker's testing, ASA parts held their color and mechanical integrity through at least two years of outdoor exposure to sunlight, rain, and temperature changes, outperforming ABS in accelerated aging tests. Use an enclosed printer to hold in heat and reduce warping, keep the part-cooling fan off, and print in a well-ventilated area. An all-metal hotend capable of 250 °C or more is helpful but not required, and a build-plate adhesive such as Magigoo Original can help with first-layer adhesion and part release. Nozzle temperature: 230–260 °C (240–260 °C for faster printing or stronger layer adhesion) Bed temperature: 75–95 °C Cooling fan: off Print speed: up to 200 mm/s Enclosure: required Drying: 70 °C if the filament has absorbed moisture Good to Know ASA absorbs relatively little moisture, so a short drying cycle is usually enough after brief exposure. If you smooth parts with acetone, handle it with appropriate safety precautions.
