Kenya Kimandi AA FAQ Custom Roasting
New beans have arrived from Rockbern in Kenya. The area is Kirinyaga, which means mountain of the gods, and the varieties are a blend of SL28 and SL34 (80%), Batian and Ruiru 11 (20%). The unfamiliar FAQ in the product name stands for Fair Average Quality. This is a lot of beans that are grown in the same place as other high-quality beans, but the flavor just doesn't meet the standards, but it's still delicious. Our store tasted a total of four types of beans, including two of these FAQ lots and one more expensive bean, and we felt that the FAQ lot we purchased this time was clearly more delicious than the other beans, so we decided to carry it. Roaster's comment: It combines the bright citrus juiciness typical of Kenya with the sweetness of nuts and chocolate, but it also feels slightly grassy. This may be a drawback, but if I had to describe it, I would say it has an herbal feel. When lightly roasted, you can feel the acidity of citrus and lemon, and when darkly roasted, the acidity is subdued but the juiciness is not lost, and the bitterness and sweetness of nuts and chocolate are mixed just right. The roast we offer is just before full city roast. It is set to a roast that is slightly pulled back from the second crack. The roast degrees offered are high, city, and full city. *These beans start at 450g due to operational optimization. We have lowered the selling price by eliminating the high-cost 180g offer.
