Marrakech after Seago

Around the same time I pointed the large oil painting The Wells of Marrakech after Edward Seago, I painted two smaller oils after Seago. This was the first one, a 10″ x 8″ based on a much larger oil by Edward Seago painted, most probably in the 1960’s. I also painted a second one the same size but with more detail, The Walls of Marrakech. It’s an incredibly simple composition in so many ways. The sky colour merges into the shadows on the walls. The foreground figure provides both scale and a focal point. There’s also a tremendous sense of space because of the broad foreground.
